About Anaerobic Ferments with Matt Dunwell

Working with microbes has become a hot topic amongst Organic growers. It may feel overwhelming to try to pick your way through aerobic compost teas as advocated by Elaine Ingham, anaerobic fermentation as advocated by Jairo Restrepo, or the JADAM preparations largely coming out of South Korea. Matt is familiar with all three different approaches and seeks the positive attributes of each.

In this one day course Matt will cover:

  • The production of lactobacillus – used for compost, foliar feed, pesticide and bokashi
  • Compost making using lactobacillus – the basis of a good soil
  • Collecting and cultivating Native Microbes
  • Biofertilisers – production and application
  • Biochar production and use in the garden
  • Easy Bokashi

Matt ran Ragmans Lane Farm for 34 years, and has experience farming livestock, growing vegetables, and managing a commercial orchard and juicing business. He has been teaching for 30 years and is lead tutor on the Bristol SHIFT course.

This event is run by The Frome Society – charity number 510337
