For those who have yet to meet Maria, she is an improviser, comedy performer and professional development trainer. She has studied with Charna Halpern, the founder of iO Chicago https://ioimprov.com/about-us/ and author of Truth in Comedy. Maria has also worked with Keith Johnstone, New York’s Upright Citizens Brigade, and The Second City in Chicago.
You might have seen Maria at The Comedy Store in Leicester Square, or perhaps improvising musicals in Bristol with This is Your Musical. So – what is Truth in Comedy?
Truth in Comedy gets to the heart of what Improv is – it’s about drawing on personal experiences and creating stories that are meaningful and authentic. Most of the time they are also very entertaining. You don’t need any experience – just a willingness to ‘have a go’ and think out of the box.
